AT&T to Lose iPhone Exclusivity

As I've told friends recently, AT&T is scheduled to lose their exclusive contract with Apple, meaning the iPhone may soon be available with other carriers.  This is good news for many, who have problems in their location with AT&T coverage and service (like in the Colorado High Country for instance).  Here's an article saying this may happen as early as Wednesday !

Twitter To Joomla & Vice-Versa

Today I've set up way for my twitter, facebook, and joomla accounts to all talk to each other, and display each other's feeds.

This post is testing the joomla to twitter part of the feed, and if successful, then this will show up as a tweet on twitter and on my joomla site, and on facebook as well.  So posts on the website will show up down the chain, and the website will also show feeds from twitter and facebook.

Let's try it.

IPCC Glacier Report Falsified on Purpose

This is rather difficult to believe, but it seems the people behind the IPCC's 2007 report (the one that won the Nobel Peace Prize !?!?) - the section on Himalayan glacial retreat - which the IPCC has admitted is not based on any sort of evidence, was PURPOSELY falsified, in order to influence political action!  Now, anthropogenic global warming may be true, or it may be false, but this is not science of any kind.  This is, in fact, the opposite of good science, and is unethical.  To take one's status and position as a leading scientist, and abuse it by publishing blatant falsehoods in order to achieve a pre-determined political aim, is just about the worst violation of any kind of scientific ethics I can imagine.  Here's a good report on this by the Daily Mail:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1245636/Glacier-scientists-says-knew-data-verified.html

I can't even believe this is true, but the IPCC guys THEMSELVES are saying it's true.  More on this later, when I recover from the shock !!

Add your feeds to Facebook

Today we're going to add a new Joomla site to Facebook.  What do I mean by that?  Well I mean that Facebook allows you to take RSS (really simple syndication) feeds from your site, and add them to your wall, where RSS articles appear as wall posts.

OK let's take a look at the site, http://www.cst.net - it's only two days old, but we want to get Facebook set up before we proceed with more content.  OK in the lower left is an RSS symbol, clicking there brings up this feed URL:

http://www.cst.net/index.php?format=feed&type=rss

So then let's go to Facebook.  Hmm... it appears that they have never built a native way in Facebook to put more than one RSS feed on your wall, or pages, etc., in Facebook.  I will need to pick up several feeds from my pages and sites, and put them in different pages in Facebook.  But now it seems someone has built a new app, still in Alpha, that will do this for us.  It's called RSS Graffiti and it's website is here:  http://www.rssgraffiti.com/

So we're going to proceed with that and add two rss feeds from cst.net - the front page, and the mobile blog.  So, we add the app, give it permissions, and add the above feed URL to it as the first feed.  If it works, it will show this article.

Add a Joomla Moblog to Facebook

We're going to add a mobile blog, or moblog, to our Facebook account, from a Joomla website.  For incorporating mobile feeds into Joomla, I used MMS Blog, whose website is here: http://mms.pipp.no/doku.php - I will cover that in another article.

So the moblog for the site is here:  http://www.cst.net/mobile-phone-blog and it's RSS feed is here: http://www.cst.net/mobile-phone-blog?format=feed&type=rss  - we'll add that to the RSSGraffiti app in Facebook here: http://apps.facebook.com/rssgraffiti/  and see if we can post something from my phone to my wall next.
